Dr Serahni Symington
Dr Serahni Symington is a Registered Counsellor with a PhD degree in Psychology; and holds both a Master’s degree in Play Therapy and an Advanced Masters degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology and Family Therapy.
She is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and is an executive member of the Registered Counsellor division and member of PsySSA.
She also holds a position as the Deputy HOD of Psychology at Cornerstone Institute, whilst assisting as senior lecturer in Family Counseling, Therapeutic Psychology and practicum coordinator and supervisor to counsellors in training.
Her work is grounded in play therapy, developmental psychology, and family systems, with a strong focus on ethical, child-centred care. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families across a range of emotional and behavioural concerns

Izaan de Wet
Izaan De Wet is a Registered Counsellor, registered with both PsySSA and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She has experience working with primary school and high school learners and has a particular passion for supporting children, adolescents, and families.
She has been a student under Dr Serahni Symington since 2024, during which time her strong work ethic, gentle presence, and playful, child-centred approach have consistently stood out. Her ability to build safe, trusting relationships makes her a natural fit for the ethos of the practice.
Izaan’s work is characterised by warmth, professionalism, and a deep respect for each client’s emotional world. We are delighted to welcome her to the team.
Izaan was also awarded her BPsych degree with distinction
Sonika Hamman
Sonika is the heart of the practice and the glue that keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. With her strong administrative skills, diligence, and incredible attention to detail, she ensures that the day-to-day operations of the practice run effortlessly.
But beyond her organisational skills, Sonika is known for her caring nature and the way she looks after everyone around her. She is always willing to help, support, and go the extra mile for both the team and our clients. Her dedication and warm presence play a big part in creating the supportive environment that the practice is known for.
